Gabriel Temudzani Thanks Fans for 28 Years of Muvhango as Show Nears Final Episode

Veteran South African actor Gabriel Temudzani, who famously portrayed the character Chief Azwindini Mukwevho on Muvhango, has publicly expressed his heartfelt gratitude to fans for their unwavering support as the long-running SABC soapie draws to a close.
Appearing as a guest on Newzroom Afrika, Gabriel took a moment to reflect on the journey and legacy of Muvhango, which first aired in 1998 and has entertained South Africans for nearly three decades.
“I would like to say thank you to every South African who rallied behind us for 28 years. We are grateful for the support we got over all those years,” he said.
Fans quickly took to social media to respond to the actor’s moving words. Many shared personal stories about how the show impacted their lives, from cultural education to inspiration in leadership.
A user by name, L.J. Mamashila, commented:
“Honestly speaking, Muvhango did a lot to teach some of us the Venda language, as it’s considered the most difficult language in the country. It will be sorely missed.”
Another viewer, Sandile Madlala, reflected on the show’s influence:
“The Great Warthog of Luonde, you who say live and I live, you who say perish and I perish. Ndaa! It was Muvhango that sparked my interest in management and leadership because whenever I would see the board of MMC and see Black, rich, and powerful people seated around that boardroom, something in me lit up. I believed from the first time I saw it that a Black child could experience that in real life.”
Over the years, Muvhango became more than just a soap opera—it became a cultural institution, praised for promoting the Venda language and traditions, while tackling modern storylines involving love, politics, family, and power.
After 28 years on air, SABC has officially confirmed that the final episode will air on 8 August 2025, marking the end of an era for South African television.
