MacG responds to rumors of Ambassadorial Deal and R2.5 Million Mercedes-Benz Ownership

South African podcaster and YouTuber MacG is once again in the spotlight — but this time, it’s not for his controversial interviews. Twitter users, aka “Tweeps,” took to social media to throw shades at him following rumors of an ambassadorial deal with Pharoah Auto — and things escalated quickly.
The buzz started when a tweet by @i_am_malome_tumi threw shade, humorously questioning MacG’s brand alignment:
“I’m worried about this ambassador thing. MacG, would you agree to be an ambassador for MAQ washing powder? Sol gets beer, and you get washing powder?”
The tweet sparked a wave of jokes and reactions online.
This social media mockery comes on the heels of another viral topic — rumors that MacG was spotted driving a R2.5 million Mercedes-Benz. The online speculation suggested that the podcaster had splurged on the high-end vehicle, despite his public image of being financially conscious.
However, MacG quickly shut down those claims in a recent video, stating:
“I’d never spend R3 million on a car. What a waste of money.”
The video, shared on Instagram with the caption “Y’all wanted MacG to answer about the car, nazoke (there you go),” only fueled further debate. Some fans believe the denial is a cover-up, insisting he’s trying to keep his personal life low-key.
Comments from users reflect a mix of disbelief and playful skepticism:
@Bethelmadida: “Deny the car, Vho Mukwevho.”
@umashekhas.dlaba: “He thinks we’re all from KZN, this one. The car is his.”
@kingscelo5: “MacG is trying so hard to keep his private life private, and Sol is exposing him every day.”
Interestingly, the speculation continued despite MacG’s insistence. Some pointed out how ironic it was given that his co-host, Sol Phenduka, was recently mocked for driving a R700,000 Kia model, adding more fuel to the fire.
Whether or not MacG is hiding a luxury car or planning to represent a luxury dealership or a detergent brand, one thing is certain: Twitter always has jokes — and receipts and it’s always laughed over.
